Vicky Liu – Program Directress

BC. Early Childhood Educator
Montessori Primary Teacher (AMI)
Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (SFU)

Hi, Iโ€™m Vicky! I was born and raised in China and moved to Canada with my family in 2008. I have been working with children since 2011. After graduating from SFU, I worked as an assistant teacher in childcare centres and as a private Mandarin tutor for several years.

Inspired by my love for early childhood education, I decided to further my studies through the AMI Montessori program at the Montessori Training Centre of BC. After completing my Montessori and Early Childhood Education training in 2016, I worked in China as a Montessori school principal and assistant trainer for two years.

I returned to Canada in 2018 when I was expecting my first daughter, Erica. Now, as a mother of two young girls, I bring both my professional experience and personal understanding into my work every day. I know how much parents care about their childrenโ€™s growth, learning, and happiness, because I feel the same way.

I truly believe it is a privilege to work with families, to support their little ones as they grow, explore, and discover the world around them. My goal is to create a warm, nurturing, and inspiring environment where every child feels safe, valued, and loved.

Brandi – Teacher

BC. Early Childhood Educator
BC. Infant/Toddler Educator
Bachelor Degree

As a certified Infant and Toddler educator, I am deeply passionate about early childhood education. To me, being an educator means more than just guiding, teaching, and observing childrenโ€”it means being an active, caring participant in their daily lives. I find great joy in working and learning alongside young children, supporting their individual growth, and offering help whenever they need it. Although I originally earned a bachelorโ€™s in Criminology, I discovered that my interests and strengths were better aligned with the field of early childhood education. This realization led me to pursue further studies at Capital College in 2023, where I was building the skills and knowledge needed to support young learners with intention and compassion. My academic journey, combined with hands-on experience, has deepened my understanding of child development and reinforced my commitment to creating nurturing, meaningful learning environments.

Haruna- Teacher

BC. Early Childhood Educator
BC. Infant/Toddler Educator
Bachelor Degree

Hi everyone! My name is Haruna Baba. I was born and raised in Hiroshima, Japan, and have always had a deep love for working with children. From a young age, I knew I wanted to become an Early Childhood Educator. I studied Primary Education at a university in Japan, where I also had the opportunity to participate in an exchange program that brought me to the University of Victoria. During that time, I studied English and visited several child care centers in Victoria, which inspired me even more. After graduating, I worked at a Japanese child care center in Shanghai, China, for two years. In May 2018, I moved to Canada to pursue my dream of becoming an ECE here. I studied Early Childhood Education at Sprott Shaw College and, after graduating, gained valuable experience working at three different child care centers over the past 5.5 years. Iโ€™m absolutely thrilled to be a part of Kidtopia and look forward to growing alongside the children, families, and team!

My goal is to teach children to find enjoyable ways to learn about the world around them through play and hands-on exploration. I look forward to meeting your families and teaching your little ones!

Sumin – Teacher

BC. Early Childhood Educator
Infant and Toddler Educator Training in Progress

I am originally from South Korea and immigrated to Canada with my family in 2002. I studied at Vancouver Career College, where I received my Early Childhood Education certificate. I chose to pursue a career in Early Childhood Education not only because I adore children and enjoy playing and teaching them, but also because I had a positive childhood experience with a wonderful teacher. Inspired by that experience, I wanted to give back by becoming a teacher myself. I believe that children are naturally curious, capable, and full of potential. I value child-led learning and strive to follow each childโ€™s unique interests, trusting their ability to grow and learn in their own way. Being part of that process is deeply fulfilling. Itโ€™s truly meaningful work, and I feel grateful every day to be part of their early learning journey.

Jasmine- Teacher

BC. Early Childhood Educator Assistant
Master Degree of Education

Hi everyone! My name is Jasmine, and I named myself after the well-known Disney movie released in 1998. Before becoming an ECEA, I worked as a math tutor, providing personalized Singapore Math instruction to students aged 3 to 8. It was such a joy to work with children who are always full of curiosity and energy to explore the world, and I learned so much from them. In 2024, I officially started working as an ECEA in a toddler classroom, which gave me a deeper understanding of how children develop through outdoor play, routines, and emotional connections. I learned how important it is to create a consistent and nurturing environment where children feel safe to express themselves and build independence. I also enjoy supporting their language and social development through songs, stories, and group activities. I am so happy to join the team, and I look forward to helping create a warm, playful, and safe environment for all the children at Kidtopia.
